Makerspace Misconceptions

  • "You have to have a special space." Making can happen in your classroom! It works best when it is tied into the curriculum.
  • "I don't have the time." Set a time limit for the day. It doesn't have to happen all in one day.
  • "Makerspaces are a fad." Investing in creativity isn't a fad.
  • "It doesn't tie into my curriculum." Focus on the growth mindset and critical thinking. Be intentional when tying it into the curriculum for the students.

How do I get started?

  • Try an open-ended project.
  • Watch Think, Make, Innovate!
