Google Expeditions

Imagine exploring coral reefs or the surface of Mars in an afternoon. With Google Expeditions, you can! Teachers can use these virtual and augmented reality tours to give new meaning to lesson in the classroom. From the Great Barrier Reef to Buckingham Palace to the International Space Station - where will you take your class?

The Digital Learning Team have several Google Expeditions kits that they loan out to schools. Each kit has VR viewers, smartphones, a teacher tablet, and all the equipment you need to run a tour in your school.

Become a Digital Learning Expeditions Ambassador!

Google Expeditions Kits are available for a one-week checkout. Teachers who are interested must teach at a school or district within the Grant Wood AEA area and have completed our Expeditions Ambassador Program.

To become Digital Learning Expeditions Ambassador, an educator needs to:
  • Complete a one-day training session sponsored by GWAEA
  • Contribute a lesson plan to our online collection to help others understand how to create a rich learning experience for students.
  • Pass a yearly quiz about kit maintenance to stay current with updates
  • Complete the required checkout forms

Once you become a Digital Learning Expeditions Ambassador, you will facilitate, maintain, and be responsible for the kit during your school’s checkout period.  Because of the high demand for these kits, it is critical that you notify us immediately of any problems with the kit during the checkout time.

If you have further questions about our Google Expeditions Ambassador Certification, contact Jonathan Wylie or Corey Rogers.
