We are excited to announce the return of a popular PD opportunity for Iowa educators who are interested in learning more about how to use Twitter as part of a personal learning network, (PLN). Here is some information on what you need to know about this class. Please share this post with anyone you think might be interested.
This online class explores how teachers and administrators can use Twitter to connect, share and network with other educators from around the world. With Twitter you can find great resources, keep up with educational trends, collaborate on global projects, and get the inspiration you need for your classroom. Twitter is free and available for all devices. It's also easy to learn, so sign up today and discover what it can do for you! No experience required. The class begins with some Twitter basics and discusses the idea of a PLN and how it can add value to your knowledge, growth and experience as an educator. You'll make Twitter lists, master TweetDeck, and find ways to curate and share the resources you find on Twitter. Participants will also be asked to take part in a Twitter chat and to reflect on why many educators find this to be an indispensable part of their online interactions with other educators. The face-to-face orientation session is 4:30-5:30pm on March 29, 2017. Participants will receive an overview of the class on that night, as well as instructions on how to access course materials and submit assignments. There will also be time for questions. The remainder of the class will be delivered in an online format with learning modules that are hosted in Canvas. Participants do not need to be available, or online, at the dates listed on the GWAEA PD website due to the asynchronous nature of this course. Online modules and assignments will have due dates, but participants can work on the content at times of their choosing. Twitter for Educators: Connect, Share, Grow! can be taken as a 1-credit hour class for license renewal in the state of Iowa. If you are interested in gaining renewal credit, please select this option when you register, or contact the Professional Development team at Grant Wood AEA for more information. If you have questions about the content of this class, please email Jonathan Wylie at jwylie@gwaea.org. |
